Benelux Tour (August 30th to September 5th)

Greg Van Avermaet : « Ideal for getting to the heart of the matter »

« The Benelux Tour is a race that I know very well, where I have already won stages, and finished second overall. It’s ideal for getting to the heart of the matter for the second half of the season. It’s a stage race for classics racers and it suits me well. We must not lose time on the first day, do a good time trial and then everything will be decided over the last two days, in the Ardennes on Saturday and then arriving at the Mur de Grammont on Sunday. This is the first of several big goals like the World Championships in Belgium (September 26), Paris-Roubaix (October 3) or Paris-Tours (October 10).
I hope to be able to play the leading role, to enter the top 5 or a top 10, even if my condition has not always lived up to my ambitions in recent weeks. We have a very good team, with Oliver Naesen who also knows the race and the final route well »Greg
