Vincent Lavenu: "An attractive 2021 season

"The AG2R CITROËN team has had an attractive 2021 season, even if the nature of the competition is to always want more.
We had some great satisfactions with a stage win in each of the major tours with Andrea Vendrame at the Giro d'Italia, Ben O'Connor, magnificent fourth overall, at the Tour de France and Clément Champoussin at the Vuelta a Espana. I also really appreciated Benoît Cosnefroy's success in the Bretagne Classic ahead of world champion Julian Alaphilippe, the advent of Dorian Godon, three-time winner and overall winner of the Coupe de France, or Geoffrey Bouchard's best climber jersey at the Giro d'Italia. There is a significant wink in our very consistent season: we won the first race with Aurélien Paret Peintre at the Grand Prix La Marseillaise and the last one with Stan de Wulf, a very promising boy, at the Boucles de l'Aulne. We made a special effort in the classics and even if we could have hoped for an even better result, Greg Van Avermaet's third place in the Tour of Flanders is a great satisfaction. All we needed was a success in a monument, which was one of our stated objectives. In the end, we finished eighth in the world ranking and this is proof of our consistency at the highest level throughout the season. We are also ambitious for the 2022 season, with a very stable core of players who will be able to rely on solid leaders and young talents that we hope will blossom. We are relying more and more on our training program with the U19 team which feeds the U23 team and whose best elements integrate the professional group. This is a real recognition of the work done at all levels."[/su_quote]
