French cyclocross championships in Pontchateau (January 10)

CLEMENT VENTURINI : “I’m attached to the jersey”

“This tricolor jersey has great importance for me. I am still in love with cyclocross. Even if I do not race cyclocross so much anymore, I like to wear the jersey during my winter when training. So of course I would love to keep this jersey for another season. With only one cross event in my legs (2nd in Troyes on January 2nd), it is difficult to know where I am compared to the competition. I quickly realized last week that I was less technically comfortable than I have been in the past. I have good memories in Pontchateau where I won a World Cup for Juniors in 2011. Even if I am the reigning French Champion, I know that the race will be difficult against specialists and the big engines. But I will give everything to be at my best for my first race wearing this beautiful white AG2R CITROËN TEAM jersey!”CLEMENT VENTURINI

A winner in 2017, 2019 and 2020, Clément Venturini has three national titles as the Elite French Cyclocross Champion. He also won the U23 event (2014) and a World title in the Juniors (2011).

Lilian Calmejane at the start

Lilian Calmejane will show off his AG2R CITROËN TEAM colors at the start of the French Cyclocross Championships on Sunday in Pontchateau: "I have taken part in the elite event twice before (2015-2017) and I really wanted to do it again. I have not raced since abandoning the Tour de France (September 5) and so I am eager to pin on a number. With the current situation in France, I have not been able to participate in warmup cross events, but it does not matter. Above all, I want to have fun before a first training camp with the team and my return to racing on the road on January 31 for the GP de la Marseillaise. "
