Gougeard gave it a go

Alexis Gougeard attacked the pack with 20 kilometers to go to the finish. He was caught just 3.5 kilometers before the finish line: “After the hard stage yesterday, it feels good to get back at the front of the race. Even though the stage was designed to go to the sprinters, you have to try your luck, otherwise it’s just no fun.”
