Aurélien Paret-Peintre: "Rather satisfactory for a recovery

"I haven't raced since Liège-Bastogne-Liège (April 25), and finishing second in a tough event like this is pretty satisfying. I'm coming off a high-altitude training camp where we racked up quite a few kilometers and elevation changes, and we were able to reconnoitre the course. Today, we had a great team race and that's motivating for the future. However, on the last climb, Guillaume Martin went off on his own and I had to play for second place. Now it's off to the Critérium du Dauphiné on Saturday, where I hope my form will improve in leaps and bounds.

The number

The news

One more day for Bouchard

Geoffrey Bouchard now has 136 points in the Giro d'Italia mountain classification. He led the way on the first pass of the day today. On Wednesday he will wear the blue jersey for the eighth consecutive day.
"We had apocalyptic conditions all day. I managed to get into the first breakaway with a lot of big names. I'm happy to have managed to take 40 more points. Now there is still a long way to go to Milan. The rest day comes at the right time but I'm going to hang in there."
