Lilian Calmejane : « Glad to be back in the pack »
« I was happy to be back in the peloton at the Mont Ventoux Dénivélé Challenges today. I knew there wouldn’t be a miracle because I know myself well and I started training again not so long ago. This is all the more important since I am new to the AG2R CITROEN Team, and I need to get back into the swing of things. But I definitely had fun. I am happy to race the Route d’Occitanie because it is my “home race”, in which I have only had the chance to participate three times. It’s an event with a lot of variation, with beautiful roads and stunning landscapes. It often passes through the Tarn which is more a land of rugby. There is something for all kinds of racers. I hope that this “block of races” will take me one step further in my preparation in order to find my best level by the end of July to have a good end of the season. There will be great opportunities until October. »Lilian
Ben O’Connor took 4th place in the Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenges. Geoffrey Bouchard finished tenth. “There is disappointment since the goal for the day was not to finish fourth. Lopez was simply above the rest. The team worked hard and took responsibility on the last climb,” directeur sportif Julien Jurdie explained. At the Tour de Suisse, Bob Jungels is currently in 28th place, 1’21 behind the leader.
