Julien Jurdie
" The aim will be to win stages ".
"We arrive at the start of the Vuelta a Espana with an ambitious team. The number 1 objective will be to win stages. We want to make it three by winning every grand tour this season. We already achieved this in 2006 and 2021. This time, Aurélien Paret-Peintre at the Giro d'Italia and Felix Gall at the Tour de France have shown us the way. Now it's up to us! The course of this 78th edition is conducive to movement races. We'll have to be bold and opportunistic to slip into the breakaways and raise our arms.
Geoffrey Bouchard
31 years old / 1 professional win
3rd participation
Best result: 14th overall (2021), 2019 mountain classification winner
"Geoffrey won his time trial to be at the start after his crash at the Critérium du Dauphiné on June 7, where he fractured his scaphoid. He'll be out for revenge on this Vuelta a Espana. Obviously, he won't be at 100% for the big start in Barcelona, but he'll get stronger as the days go by and I'm convinced he'll be a player in the mountain stages."
Mikaël Chérel
27 years old / 7 professional victories
3rd participation
Best result:3rd stage (2019)
"Mikael will retire at the end of this Vuelta a Espana. It will obviously be a special moment for him, as well as for the whole AG2R CITROËN team. He'll be our road captain. His role will be invaluable in guiding the rest of the team and channeling emotions. He will also have the opportunity to play his personal card in breakaways. It would be a powerful symbol to see him raise his arms for the last race of his career.
Dorian Godon
27 years old / 7 professional victories
3rd participation
Best result:3rd stage (2019)
"Dorian is a rider character. He's got back into the swing of things after not being selected for the Tour de France. His speed will be invaluable if he's to win a stage. He's a rider who has a real understanding of racing and knows how to lift his arms. He proved it again this season with a strong win at the Flèche Brabançonne.
Paul Lapeira
23 years old
1st participation
"Oliver will be Ben O'Connor's guardian angel on the plain. In fact, he's capable of reassuring the leaders who put all their trust in him. What's more, he showed us at the Critérium du Dauphiné that he's back, and at a very good level. His good humour is also a precious asset for the group.
Nicolas Prodhomme
26 years old
3rd participation
Best result: 9th stage (2021)
"Nicolas is replacing Jaakko Hänninen, who fractured his left collarbone during the Vuelta a Burgos. He's been in very good condition since the beginning of August. He proved it by finishing on the podium at the Tour de l'Ain and then by shining at the Vuelta a Burgos. His climbing skills will be invaluable in our bid to win a stage.
Damien Touzé
27 years old
3rd participation
Best result: 11th stage (2021)
"Damien knows the Vuelta a Espana inside out. He's a boy who knows how to unite a team with his sense of sacrifice. He's proved it since the start of the season by always being dedicated to his leaders. He will be invaluable in guiding Dorian Godon and Andrea Vendrame through the sprint finishes. He will also have the opportunity to play his card on certain stages."
Andrea Vendrame
29 years old / 4 professional victories
2nd participation
"Andrea has already proved that he can win on a grand tour. He's a boy with multiple assets. He has the kind of speed that allows him to take part in massive sprints, but he's also one of the peloton's very good puncheurs. He's prepared for this Vuelta with a lot of dedication.
Larry Warbasse
33 years old / 2 professional victories
3rd participation
Best result: 8th stage (2015)
"Along with Mikael Cherel, Larry will be our road captain. He's a boy who climbs very well. He prepared for this Vuelta a Espana by starting at high-altitude training camp. He arrives at the start in very good condition. He'll have a lot to play for in the mountain stages, where he'll be able to slip into the breakaways. His knowledge of the major tours will be a major asset.
